Navadvipa Mandala Parikrama

[From Free Forum]

Please come to the 2002 Navadvipa Mandala Parikrama

Appearance Site of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu

March 17th - 24th

In celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Srila Prabhupada's Gaura Purnima Festival, the Festival Committee is expecting over 25 sannyasis, GBCs, and other ISKCON leaders to participate in this year's parikrama. With the number of ISKCON leaders planning to attend the parikrama and the number of others already registered, this year's parikrama looks like it will be the best attended and most ecstatic parikrama in recent years.

Bhakti Purusottama Swami, the Festival Coordinator, is therefore humbly requesting devotees to register well in advance, so that the Festival Committee has ample time to properly arrange for hosting the Vaisnavas and Vaisnavis on parikrama. As a matter of fact, the Festival Committee is offering a 10% discount on the $35 parikrama fee* for those registering their names before February 25th. Please register by sending an e-email to Mayapur.Chandrodaya@pamho.net

For those not wanting to camp out all six nights on the parikrama: Every morning buses will leave ISKCON Mayapur taking devotees to the parikrama starting place, and after the parikrama walk finishes for the day, buses will return devotees to Mayapur. Therefore, devotees not wanting to stay in tents can easily come back to the ISKCON guesthouses to take rest and again join the parikrama the next day.

The parikrama will leave Mayapur on the morning of March 18th. It is the system, however, that before beginning parikrama we first go to the Yogapith to receive the blessings of Lord Gauranga and then continue on to Narasimha palli. In order to reduce the long walk to Yogapith on the same day as the walk to Narasimha palli, this year devotees will visit the birthplace of Lord Gauranga on March 17th directly after mangala arotika, and then return to the Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir for breakfast. The parikrama organizers refer to this walk to the Yogapith on the 17th as the parikrama adhivas.

A booklet will be available in Mayapur for those who register for the parikrama.

* Although this year, like last year, there will be no festival fee, there will still be a parikrama fee to cover the substantial costs in organizing the parikrama. Full Parikrama (7 days): US$35, which includes the parikrama, the programs, prasadam, and accommodations in tents at the parikrama site.
