Chanting on a Clicker

Dear Prabhus,

The evidence of Srila Prabhupada's instructions regarding chanting on beads and not on a clicker is overwhelming.

Chanting on a clicker, however, used to help me keep track of the number of names I’ve chanted while out running errands. In that kind of situation, using beads makes it too easy to lose my place.

Of course, when I chant in the temple room, I use beads because I do not become distracted from chanting like I do when I’m out running errands. For me the clicker was a helpful tool, until they would break on me. So instead of spending another $10 on a clicker, I chant on my fingers when I’m out running errands.

The idea is that I want to continue to chant when I’m out running errands, and using beads is too hard because I keep losing my place due to having the stop and go of chanting in such situations.

Sincerely,

Jyotirmaya das
