Devotees in Malaysia are getting ready for massive prasadam distribution at a Hindu Festival in Malaysia on 28th January.

In the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, the city of the world’s tallest twin towers, the festival of Thaipusam is celebrated at a tourist attraction called Batu Caves, where about one million pilgrims attend to fulfill their vows made to Lord Muruga (Skanda). And in Penang Island about 300,000 pilgrims attend.

At both these places and at two smaller towns, congregational members organize themselves to get together to distribute books and prasadam.

In Penang alone the devotees have made a plan to distribute 15,000 packets of prasadam. The ISKCON Penang center stands very close to the hill temple of Lord Skanda and, close to a famous tourist spot called the Botanical Gardens. The center is becoming very famous for its daily prasadam distribution during lunch hours.

The Penang branch of ISKCON Malaysia is ahead of many other centers in the Malaysian Peninsula for its Bhakti Vrksa preaching programs now totalling 27 weekly meeting groups.

The branch also had its 14th annual ratha yatra in the island, where three chariots took Their Lordships Sri Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva, and Subadra through the main streets of Penang while ending with a show of a Lion Dance in Chinese style.
