Herald Clarification from J. Deshpande
Dear CHAKRA Hare Krsna! I think you have been rather hasty in your celebrations viz. "Judge Dismisses ISKCON Suit" posting ("ISKCON Legal Case in Bangalore"). Here is the updated situation reprinted from the Deccan Herald, 7 February 2002. Y.s. ISKCON Gets 7 Days Time For Appeal BANGALORE, Feb 7 (DHNS) ISKCON Bangalore has been granted seven days time to appeal against the order of the XXVII City Civil Judge dismissing an interlocutory application seeking a declaration denying any power or right to ISKCON, Mumbai, to control the properties and affairs of ISKCON, Bangalore, its President and office bearers. Granting the time after plaintiff ISKCON, Bangalore, filed an application subsequent to the dismissal of the interlocutory application on Wednesday, the judge observed that there shall be status quo of the affairs till February 13, 2002. Clarification DH News Service BANGALORE, Feb 7 ISKCON Bangalore Media Co-ordinator Ashesha Govinda Dasa today clarified that the original suit filed by ISKCON Bangalore in connection with the ownership and title of the ISKCON temple on Harekrishna Hill, Chord Road, here is still pending. In a statement, he said the XXVII city civil judge's order passed on Wednesday only rejected an interlocutory application and there is no final decision about the ownership and title of the ISKCON temple. The office bearers of Bangalore ISKCON registered society, which is in possession of the temple, continue in office and there is no court order on either them or on Bangalore ISKCON society, he said. © CHAKRA 13 February 2002 |
