Website for
ISKCON Siliguri by Tusti Mohan Krsna das
Dear Devotees, Please accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! By the mercy of Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu and Srila Prabhupada, we would like to inform you that we have a new website dedicated to the new ISKCON temple in Siliguri (northwest Bengal State) in the northeast of India. The inauguration will be next April 16th, and it will last until April 21st, 2002.
The name of the temple is Sri Gupta Navadwip Dham. This center is one of the most exquisite in our society, with architecture beautifully designed in such a way as to portray the Vedic knowledge, heritage, and ancient traditions. The temple is situated in a very significant point, within the midst of the Himalayan Sikkim State, North Bengal State, Nepal Kingdom, and Bhutan Kingdom. Her, our center is in the heart and point of connection for these different places. One of the charitable-humanitarian activities that we offer is distribution of free prasadam (meals) to the community. It is also a center that provides education and information about Vedic knowledge and the principles of Sanatana Dharma.
The center is equipped with a visual exhibition, sculptures, and dioramas, which represent ancient scriptures such as Srimad Bhagavatam, Bhagavad-Gita and Caitanya Caritamrita. Apart from the central temple building, we have surrounding temples like Lord Jagannath, Baladeva, and Subhadra Mandir; Sita-Ram-Lakshman Mandir; Lord Nrishimhadva's Mandir; Lord Siva's Mandir; and Lord Varaha's Mandir, and each one with the particular architecture of the area that represent each Deity in India.
We would like all the devotees to have the opportunity to see this website as well as to invite you to take part in this inauguration ceremony, which will be after the 30th anniversary of ISKCON Sri Gaurpurnima Festival in Mayapur (March 28th - 2002). This year the Ganga Safari will be participating in this celebration. If you stay in India after the Gaurpurnima festival, then it will be good to have your association two weeks later in Siliguri. There are different ways to go to Siliguri. If you want to go by train from Mayapur, you can take the train in Navadwipa and be there in 10 hours. By air, you can go to Bagdogra airport 30 minutes from Siliguri.
This temple is the result of the effort and dedication of many sincere devotees under the Presidentship of HG Vrajaraj das Bramacari and under the guidance and leadership of HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaja. Please visit our website www.iskcon.net/siliguri. Yours in service to Srila Prabhupada, © CHAKRA 21 February 2002 |
