ISKCON Siliguri
ISKCON Siliguri

Dear Maharajas, Prabhus, and Matajis,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. All glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga.

By the causeless mercy and blessings of Srila Prabhupada, Sri Gauranga, and all Vaishnavas, our ISKCON center in Siliguri is ready for opening. The opening ceremonies are to be held from the 16th of April 2002 for five days, and it is our humble request to invite all of you for this extraordinary event. The name of our center is Sri Gupta Navadwip Dham.

Please see attached picture of our temple and visit our website www.iskcon.net/siliguri for more pictures and information about the project.

Siliguri is situated in a very significant point in India, within the midst of the Himalayan Sikkim state, North Bengal state, Nepal kingdom and Bhutan kingdom. The ISKCON center in Siliguri is also situated at a central point that connects all these different places.

Keeping to the standards of ISKCON temples worldwide, the center in Siliguri exquisitely blends architectural beauty, sacred Vedic values, and modern technology and serves as an educator and reminder of the spiritual world.

Twenty-two steps (as in Jagannath Puri, Orissa) lead to the temple hall, which is 201 feet in length and 108 feet in breadth. The shell-shaped ceiling is twenty-seven feet high with paintings that portray the Lord in His Universal Form. The main dome is 129 feet high.

The temple houses Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Govinda-Madhavajiu and Sri Pancha Tattva. These Deities are placed in 22-foot-high wooden altars, which are said to be the biggest of their kind in the world. Besides these presiding Deities, there are also Deities of Sri Balaji (Tirupati), Sri Vishvaksena (the Vaishnava form of Ganesha), Jaya-Vijaya, and others.

Special arrangements have been made to distribute free prasadam to every visiting pilgrim, and a 1500-seat auditorium with state-of-the-art marble decorations has also been constructed for all kinds of preaching programs.

The elaborate ceremonies for the opening of this center are to be held from 16th April (Tuesday) to 21st of April (Saturday) 2002. I request you to kindly come, participate in the ceremonies and festivities, and bless us so that we may serve Srila Prabhupada and Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Govinda-Madhavjiu and Sri Panca-tattva. Your presence in Siliguri during the temple opening will greatly inspire the local people to come and offer devotional service. So please do not hesitate to come for the temple opening.

Kindly let me know well in advance about your arrival so that I may make suitable arrangements.

Thanking you,

Your humble servants,
Vrajaraj das
