"Fossil"
on the Vedabase By Kavicandra Swami
Since the word "fossil" has become such an important part of our vocabulary, I looked it up on the Vedabase. The greatest enemies of progressive spiritual culture in human society are the old fossils of political parties who are blind themselves and who try to lead other blind men. — REF. LoB 37 Prabhupada: But where they will get fossils of old intelligent men? —REF. Morning Walk – January 22, 1974, Hawaii Prabhupada: We understand from the writings, not from the fossils and bones. the bones and fossils are already finished, but they kept their writing. —REF. Morning Walk – January 22, 1974, Hawaii Prabhupada: Suppose I am writing books. In future if you could not find my bones and fossils, but the books will prove what I was. So we have got the books. That is the real bones and fossils. Bali Mardana: They try to disprove... Prabhupada: They cannot find out bones and fossils of Krsna. Now, why they accept? —REF. Morning Walk – January 22, 1974, Hawaii Dictionary meaning of "fossil": orig., any rock or mineral dug out of the earth [Silas come from a river, but that must count.] 4 a person who is old-fashioned or has outmoded, fixed ideas adj. [Many think devotees are like that.] 2 belonging to the past; unchanged by progress [That could be used to describe Krsna.] A few years ago there was a perverted reflection of Salagram Sila worship. It was called, "Pet Rocks." People purchased a nicely package rock and took care of it in various ways. I suppose that HH Vipramukhya Swami could have said, "They were ‘Pet Rocks.’" I hope that we can find better things to discuss. © CHAKRA 2 May 2002 |
