Sri Brhad Bhagavatamrta

Dear devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I received a most wonderful gift, a book, Part One "Finding The Essence Of The Supreme Lord's Mercy"— Sri Brhad Bhagavatamrta of Srila Sanatana Goswami, from His Holiness Kavicandra Swami Maharaja yesterday (04 May 02) when he visited our home. I thank Maharaja for this most wonderful gift.

I thank His Grace Gopiparanadhana Prabhu who has translated and commented on this original Sanskrit work by Srila Sanatana Goswami. Thanks to the publishers The Bhaktivedanta Book Trust, for bringing out another most wonderful work. Thanks to Brahma Muhurta Prabhu, Govinda Madhava Prabhu, and Govinda Cordua Prabhu for the wonderful design. Thanks to Dinabandhu Prabhu for the most wonderful illustrations. His paintings are most wonderful and extraordinary. Even if it may cost the book a couple of dollars more, the publishers should have inserted some more paintings in the book.

There is a background image of Srila Sanatana Goswami's Bengali handwriting on the jacket and book cover, and I feel ecstatic just holding the book. Thanks to Vrindavana Research Institute for this special mercy.

One cannot simply put down this book, until it is completed. Due to my own conditioning and busy schedules, I had to put it down after reading chapter one "Bhauma: On the Earth." This book is a must read for everyone.

In what I have read so far, there is a wonderful quotation in the commentary (Ch 1, text 34), that I would like to share with Chakra readers: "One class of learned brahmanas like to display their knowledge by defeating others in argument. But another class of brahmanas, the pure Vaisnavas, prefer to use their energy to hear and chant about Krishna."

Thanks to Srila Prabhupada our Founder Acarya, by whose blessings all this mercy is flowing to us.
