NY Ratha-Yatra Bulletin
From New York ISKCON

Dear Devotees and Friends,

Please accept our most humble obeisances! All Glories to Lord Jagannatha, and his most confidential devotee, Srila Prabhupada!

We have now completed four days of the 2002 New York Sankirtan Festival, and now are only days away from Lord Jagannath’s most glorious Ratha-Yatra on Fifth Avenue, June 8, 2002.

Updates on the festival are as follows:

1. The Bhaktivedanta Players are in full swing, presenting dramas every night until Sunday June 9, 2002. The players, who are from the Bhaktivedanta Manor in London, came on May 29th and built a magnificent stage in the temple room for the festival. With the lights, and sounds, it is truly a world-class spiritual experience. Please make sure to attend all of the nightly temple programs from now till Sunday evening.

Plays to be performed as follows:
June 5 – Bed of Arrows
June 6 – The Magic Pot
June 7 – Temple Parody
June 8 – Ramayana (at the Festival of India)
June 9 – Bhagavata Purana

2. Indian Cable Advertisement a success! The segment on June 1st and the nightly commercials for Rathta-Yatra on the Indian Cable Channel (ITV) has increased awareness of the festival amongst a large segment of the Indian and West Indian population. We have received many phone calls in regard to the festival. Special thanks to the devotees who made this possible.

3. Please volunteer for Ratha-Yatra! We are begging all of you to consider volunteering for the Ratha-Yatra festival in some way. We have many services that require extra manpower. E-mail us with your contact info and we will get in touch with you and engage you in Lord Jagannath’s service.

4. Manipuri dancers to perform at Ratha-Yatra. Among the different varieties of spiritual entertainment, this year we have secured the famous Manipur dance troupe, Ranganiketan, to perform some martial arts exhibitions at Ratha-Yatra.

5. Devotees are coming from all over the world for the festival. Many senior sannyasis (such as HH Radhanath Swami, HH Bhakti Caru Swami, HH Vipramukhya Swami, etc.) and devotees will be attending this festival. An estimated 3000 devotees will be present for the parade (in addition to the countless thousands of New Yorkers, who will be present) and will stay on for the Sunday feast. Please make sure to come to the parade on time at 11am on June 8, so that we can begin promptly at 12 noon.

6. Lord Jagannath to arrive on June 7 at 7:00 pm. After his period of sickness, Lord Jagannath will return to the New York temple in time to get ready for Ratha-Yatra. Please come to greet Lord Jagannath as he returns to the city.

Your servants,
