Mushrooms
to Go? By Rasa Rasika dasa
I have noticed that there are two schools of thought on the subject of offering mushrooms to Krsna. My understanding is that Srila Prabhupada commented that mushrooms were not suitable to offer because of the unclean environment in which they were grown. There was a discussion on COM about this some time back, and a Mataji gave a first-hand account of Srila Prabhupada instructing that the mushrooms that were growing on the New Vrindavan property were all right to offer. These days, mushrooms are grown in clean places. Does this mean we can offer mushrooms to Krsna now? Any comments would be appreciated. Your servant, © CHAKRA 14 July 2002 |
