King of Nepal Receives Bhagavad-Gita
By Tusti Mohan Krsna dasa

Dear Devotees,

A nice experience for us was the opportunity to meet Their Majesties Gyanendra Bir Vikram Shah Dev and Queen Komal Raj Lakshmi Shah Devi, the King and Queen of Nepal, during a reception in Calcutta while they were on an official visit to India last June 27.

I didn't want to go there without offering some present to the king, and I thought the best thing would be a Bhagavad Gita in Hindi written by Srila Prabhupada. There were restrictions for security reasons, and the consul told me by phone that it might be impossible, but I prayed to the Lord to allow us this, and I took a new Bhagavad-Gita in Hindi with me and went to the reception.

It was totally blissful. I was able to meet and talk with the King four times. He was receptive and spoke with me politely. All the members of the consulate also provided polite attention and reception. We understood how merciful Krsna and Srila Prabhupada are. They open all the doors and remove obstacles so we can easily do our preaching. His Majesty was happy to receive the Gita and told me that he knows about ISKCON and our preaching activities. After 30 minutes, we spoke to him again and invited him to visit our centers whenever he comes back to India. He accepted our invitation.

This was the first trip abroad for the Nepali royal family since the assassination of the King Birendra and his family one year ago.

We are posting a few pictures about this occasion. For more information, please visit www.mayapur.info

Your servant,
Tusti Mohan Krsna das
