Lovisha: Let’s Try Our Best

Dear Devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Although it was hard for me to read of Lovisha’s fate, I found Sri Nandanandana dasa’s article, “Determined to Spread Knowledge” very inspiring. Srila Prabhupada was so compassionate and merciful to have given us the gift of Krsna consciousness but we must accept this gift by taking responsibility for it. We must do everything possible to center our lives around Krsna and to share Krsna consciousness with others. We must all take it as our personal mission and pray to Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai to help us make this world a more-loving place or at least a less-hating place.

We should start with our temples by trying our best to sincerely preach Krsna consciousness. In looking after the temple, we should avoid becoming too money-conscious and stop running temples as though they are businesses. Only qualified persons should be put in positions of authority, and most of all, we should remember that we all are under the authority of Srila Prabhupada.

The other day I met someone who identified me as a devotee because of my kanthi-mala [neck beads]. The girl said that she used to go to a Hare Krsna temple but felt that most devotees she met there were not genuine and that she saw a lot of hypocrisy in their behavior. Knowing the temple that she used to frequent, I couldn’t help but agree with her. I don’t like to complain or fault-find and I am fully cognizant of my eternal status as Rascal #1 but it really does bother me when I see devotees treating each other badly or fulfilling their personal motivations under the guise of devotional service.

Let's all sincerely try our best.

Hare Krsna.
