Moldova Needs Help

Dear Devotees,

I am writing this letter to ask the help of our worldwide community. I recently visited the Republic of Moldova, and the impression of that visit has affected me deeply. The country is suffering from extreme financial duress. The community of devotees are struggling to keep their small preaching effort alive. They have suffered much loss recently, including the loss of their temple building. With the approval of Niranjana Maharaja (current GBC) I have built a webpage to help generate emergency funds for this yatra: www.harekrishnamoldova.com

My goal is to ask for donations from any source to help this sincere group of devotees in their time of need. The thought came to my mind of Srila Prabhupada's worldwide family. Sometimes in a family the older brother must help the younger brother to get on his feet and get started in life. These devotees are our younger brothers. I sincerely believe that our small donations may change the course of this country's history. Imagine over 6 million people and only 20 dedicated devotees (with no significant income or outside support) struggling to build and maintain the only hope for that country's young people.

The average age of the devotees I met was around 20 to 25. They are just young kids trying hard to maintain. It reminds me of 26 Second Ave. in the 1960s. Truly amazing!

Any small donation would greatly help. The average salary of a college-educated person in Moldova is about $150.00 per month. I repeat, $150.00 per month. Consequently a $10.00 donation is equal to a $100.00 donation in the U.S.

If everyone who reads this pitches in 10 dollars, the temple for Srila Prabhupada in Moldova can be built. All donations will be recorded on the web site. In my humble opinion, this is an emergency situation. I have never gotten on a soapbox in my 23 years as a devotee, but I'm on one now. This is a worldwide call for assistance to any and all devotees of Lord Krishna and followers of Srila Prabhupada. Please do what you can, as fast as you can. Winter is coming to Eastern Europe. This is not an exaggeration: they will have no place to hold kirtan if we do not help. (See for yourself on the webpage. The temple has stopped construction because of lack of funds.)
