Studens will study up to seven high school courses in conjuction with the UK Cambridge University's International General Certificate Examination program. BRAJA BIHARI DASA Vrindavan High School |
Bridging the
Gap: A High School in Vrindavan By Braja Bihari dasa CHAKRA (Vrindavan, India) - March 31,
2000: For
years we in the Vrindavan Gurukula have lamented that few schools in
ISKCON can accommodate teenagers. Most of the children beyond primary
school age ended up being dropped into the midst of unfamiliar,
non-devotee environments during their impressionable teenage years.
Furthermore, in many countries even when young men and women graduated
from Gurukula they didn't have the certification required to go on to
higher studies or secure proper employment. Thus
we decided to start a Krsna Conscious High School. Students
will study up to seven high school courses in conjunction with the UK
Cambridge University's International General Certificate Examination
program. They can also attend the VIHE Bhakti-sastri course, with an
in-depth study of the Bhagavad-gita, Nectar of Devotion, Sri Isopanisad
and Nectar of Instruction. The residence for the High School will be
located in the recent acquired beautiful land previously own by Prithu
Prabhu. Teenagers
have specific needs, and we hope to meet those needs by arranging a
balanced environment for study, sadhana, sports, computers, extra
curricular activities and tasty prasadam. Plans are being made to offer a
well-equipped residential facility near the Krishna-Balarama Mandir. We
desire that graduates will leave the High School with a well-rounded
education, a taste for Krishna Consciousness, deep and fond memories of
Sri Vrindavana and many options awaiting them in further studies,
employment and/or direct service to the Lord. For
further information regarding the new High School, or the Gurukula for
boys 5 to 13, please contact: braja.bihari.bjd@pamho.net
