Lectures at Royal Institution in London
The prestigious Royal
Institution of Great Britain hosted Michael A. Cremo for a Public Lecture
on Forbidden Archeology: The Hidden History of the Human Race Wednesday
evening, May 3, 2000 in London. Speaking before an audience of 400 members
of the Royal Institution and members of the public sector, he presented
evidence from Vedic and scientific literature suggesting that human
civilizations have existed on this planet for millions of years in the
course of cyclical time.
Following his lecture
was an article in one of UK's national dailies, The

Oldest human
fossils outside of Africa found in Southwest Asia
May 11, 2000 In a
surprising twist to the story of early human history, scientists have
discovered the oldest human fossils known outside of Africa. An
international research team is reporting the work in Friday's issue of the
journal Science. Last summer, the researchers unearthed a pair of
1.7-million-year-old human skulls from beneath a medieval church in the
Republic of Georgia, formerly part of the Soviet Union. The fossils are,
by far, the oldest human remains found anywhere other than Africa, the
cradle of humanity.

comments: This is an example of deceptive reporting. The fossils were not
those of anatomically modern humans, technically called Homo sapiens
sapiens. Indeed, they were not the fossils of any kind of Homo sapiens,
not even the most primitive. The fossils were from an African species that
the discoverers have called Homo ergaster. This species is considered by
many archeologists to be part of the species Homo erectus, which is
thought to have arisen in Africa between 1.8 and 1.9 million years ago.
Most archeologists believed that Homo sapiens evolved from Homo erectus
between 200,000 and 100,000 years ago. The oldest anatomically modern
human fossils currently accepted by orthodox scientists are about 100,000
years old, and come from the Border Cave site in South Africa. Calling the
Georgian fossils human is thus incorrect. This deceptive use of language
is sometimes employed by archeologists who wish to emphasize their theory
that humans of our type evolved from Homo erectus. Because we supposedly
evolved from Homo erectus, they think it proper to call Homo erectus
human, in the sense of being a human ancestor. But, as Richard Thompson
and I have demonstrated in Forbidden Archeology, there is abundant
evidence from all over the world that humans like ourselves were present
millions of years before the new Georgian finds, what to speak of the
Border Cave finds.
Survey Finds
Support Is Strong For Teaching Creationism along with Darwinism
March 11, 2000 An
overwhelming majority of Americans think that creationism should be taught
along with Darwin's theory of evolution in the public schools, according
to a new national survey. The survey's results were released yesterday by
the People for the American Way Foundation, the liberal civic rights group
that commissioned the poll, which was conducted by DYG Inc., the polling
and research firm in Danbury, Conn. The survey involved extensive
interviews with 1,500 people drawn representatively from all segments of
society across the country.

Blast from the
Past?
Rajasthan, India
Scientists have unearthed an ancient city where evidence shows an atomic
blast dating back thousands of years, from 8,000 to 12,000 years,
destroyed most of the buildings and probably a half-million people. One
researcher estimates that the nuclear bomb used was about the size of the
ones dropped on Japan in 1945. Historian Kisari Mohan Ganguli says that
Indian sacred writings are full of such descriptions, which sound like an
atomic blast as experienced in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He says references
mention fighting sky chariots and final weapons. An ancient battle is
described in the Drona Parva, a section of the Mahabharata.

DNA Testing
Commences on Kennewick Man
Seattle, WA, April
26, 2000 The latest, and perhaps most tedious, stage in the ongoing
scientific analysis of the 9,000-year-old, Native American skeleton known
as Kennewick Man got under way yesterday at Seattle's Burke Memorial
Washington State Museum. The primary goal is to determine if DNA testing
can be done on the bones to determine if they are linked to any modern
tribes.
But are not these the
same bones that scientists were refused access to in 1996 by the federal
government, which claimed them on behalf of local tribes opposed to
scientific study of the remains? The scientists that sued for access to
the bones have not yet been allowed to do any analysis.
It is the scientists
appointed by the federal government doing the studying, and neither the
tribes nor the scientists who filed suit are very happy about it.

THOUGHTS
FROM MICHAEL
We are now in the
middle of a fundamental shift in worldviews, of the kind that takes place
very rarely in the history of ideas. My forbidden archeology work,
documenting evidence for extreme human antiquity is part of this shift. It
is becoming obvious that we cannot explain everything that is happening in
the universe, including the question of human origins, by the actions of
ordinary matter alone. We must take into account the existence of mind and
consciousness (or spirit) as irreducible features of reality, along with
matter. In terms of human origins, I believe that all the evidence shows
we have not evolved up from matter, but have devolved, or come down, from
spirit, by a process I explain in the book I am now writing, Human
Devolution.
I believe that we are
now in the process of renegotiating our whole picture of reality to take
into account mind and consciousness. There are many parties to this
renegotiation: orthodox scientists, alternative scientists, religionists,
conspiracy theorists, ufo researchers, paranormal researchers, new agers,
alternative healers, and more. In order to be an effective participant in
this renegotiation, I try to cross boundaries and maintain contact with
all the parties. That is why my schedule takes me to establishment
scientific societies such as the Royal Institution, universities,
mainstream archeology conferences, alternative history conferences,
religious gatherings, ufo conferences, new age gatherings, and so on. I
also believe that it is necessary for those involved in this renegotiation
of our fundamental concepts of reality to be making use of all methods of
communication, which is why in my own efforts I am making use of public
lectures in all forums, the web, email, printed books, magazines,
newspapers, radio, television, and (soon, hopefully) cinema. I have
produced a script for a dramatic feature film based on the forbidden
archeology concept, so if you are in the film making business, or know
someone who is, please contact me.

FORUM: Comrades in

Letters to mail@mcremo.com:
Question: I've
read a good portion of your book. Am I correct that you feel that
creatures like Homo erectus, Homo habilus, etc. have no relationship
whatsoever to Homo sapiens? Homo erectus is clearly different from the ape
(or gibbon), but has many similarities. Would you conclude that at least
Homo erectus evolved from that source?
As far as Homo sapien,
are you stating that they are a special creation with no precursor?
Many thanks. Jack
Answer: Dear
Jack,
As I mentioned in the
introduction to my book, my work is inspired by the ancient Sanskrit
writings of India. Those writings mention ape men, apes and monkeys, and
humans as separate creations that have coexisted with each other. There
might have been some cases of interbreeding, but basically they remained
separate lines. I would put H. erectus and the Neanderthals in the apeman
category. Australopithecus and H. habilis appear to belong in the ape and
monkey category, to me.
Regards, Michael A.
Cremo
Question: I
wonder if it might be possible for you to put a few pictures of different
scientific finds that disprove the theory that man and the dinosaurs did
not coexist, such as the sandal prints among the dino prints uncovered in
Texas or the gold chain discovered in a coal layer (in the British Isles I
believe). I am 18 years old and am tired of being told by my teachers that
"man evolved from a lesser lifeform and in doing so existed after the
dinosaur." If you could show some pictures I would be most thankful.
Sincerely, Leuico

Leuico, please see the following websites:

Regarding the gold
chain discovered in a coal layer in Morrisonville, Illinois, check out the
"Times Past" website. There are no pictures, but there are a lot
of interesting cases of anomalous metallic objects discovered in ancient
strata. We are not aware of any existing pictures of the gold chain found
in the lump of coal.

Question: I
really wish that you would use television or movies.... something besides
books. I hardly know anyone that reads books!!! As sad as that may be,
it's the truth. Everyone watches tv, and today's public learns from tv.
They learn their biases, their fashions, their SCIENCE; everything!!!
Sincerely, Michael
Answer: Dear
Michael,
I agree totally.
Actually, my philosophy is to be everywhere. On tv, radio, internet,
books, lectures, etc., because these days people get their information
from everywhere and anywhere. The more places you are the better. I have
been on some tv, and at the moment I am in negotiations with a production
company that wants to do a full length documentary on my work, along the
lines that you have described. So we shall see what happens. Also, I have
developed a screenplay for a dramatic feature film based on the forbidden
archeology concept, and it is being shopped around to producers in the US
and Europe. If you have any contacts in the film industry, let me know.
Thanks for your interest.
Sincerely
yours,

Question:
(Sept. 6, 1999) About a week or two ago I was watching Discovery News
about the Napoleon Fleet when a news flash came on about the discovery of
a 50 (or 15) million yr old human skeleton found in Africa. It was a very
short news brief and I didn't catch the whole thing. Since then I have
been trying to find further details in regards to this. I tried Discovery
News website, nothing there. Do you know anything about this? We read your
book Forbidden Archeology & thought if anyone would know about this,
you would. Thanks for your input on this.

Answer: Dear
Dawn & Jerry,
We have searched but
not found any reports like the one you described. Has anybody else heard
about this?

ANOMALOUS DISCOVERIES
4-15-2000 Dear
Michael Cremo, I am reading your book "Forbidden Archeology" and
in this connection I have some message that might interest you. A few
years ago I found in my coal bucket a metallic artefact, that caught my
attention. It is an iron (reddish oxide hue at the surface and quite heavy
for its size, much heavier than stone or coal) splinter of some roundish
structure like a gun barrel or a cylinder. It's more or less the size of a
fist.
It looks extremely
old, as if it was in the coal layer right from its formation. If so, it
might have something like 250-350 million years. That seems to be so much
probable, that there are distinct (yellow) sulphur-like deposits grown
into it. (Sulphur formation is not a recent phenomenon, is it?) There are
some rusty growths at its edges, as if there has been some long conversion
and formation of iron-based compounds in interaction with the surrounding
material.
I scratched off a
little piece of the yellow deposit and rubbed it between my fingers - it
had a distinct smell of burned matches. And I have just made a burning
test of a small piece of it, and it didn't burn! (I thought it might be
sulphur, but it isn't). After heating with a lighter its color turned from
yellow into reddish. (This might point to the fact, that the artifact has
not been subjected to fire, which could give it this old, thwarted look,
with those growths at the edges). It is definitely some sulphur compound
(those deposits). What compound - I do not know. Maybe you might know from
the above description? I also found a very tiny piece of a white shell
(marine origin?) attached to the artifact.
I have taken today
this artifact to a professional photographer and I will have the pictures
by Wednesday. After that I will scan them and send you by e-mail for your
examination, if you are interested. They will be compressed into zip
format. Please let me know if you have any further questions and if you
want these photos to be sent by e-mail.
I am in the process
of reading your book and after I have read it I will send you my short
comments. So far, I have read a number of Deniken's [von Daniken?] books
on related subjects.
Yours, Henryk
