“As she left her body, she raised her right hand holding her japa, to the air and then to her head and quit her body smiling.” |
More About the Passing of
Savitri Priya devi dasi CHAKRA (London, England) - On the 21st of August at 9:20
AM, Savitri Priya Devi Dasi left her material body to enter the spiritual
world. She was surrounded by 5
devotees and despite her frail condition and horse voice, she chanted
along with them, japa in her hand and Guru's voice softly in the
background singing the glories of Srimati Radharani. As she left her body,
she raised her right hand holding her japa, to the air and then to her
head and quit her body smiling. On behalf of her husband, His
Grace Lila Purushottama dasa, her daughter, Her Grace Jahnava devi dasi,
her son Dipen and son-in-law, His Grace Akincana dasa, I wish to thank all
the wonderful Vaisnavas who gave Savitri Priya Devi support and regularly
visited her, chanting, reading and singing kirtans to her. To all the Vaisnavas who took
care of the family's needs of prasadam and created that wonderful network
of support at such a sensitive and trying time: a great thank you. To all the devotees who
responded with letters of encouragement via com to Savitri Priya devi:
your support, blessings and kind words meant a great deal to her and her
family, a heartfelt thank you. To all our Sanyasis who
visited Savitri Priya devi and bestowed upon her their mercy and
blessings, HH Vipramukhya Maharaj, HH Radhanatha Maharaj, HH Sivarama
Maharaj, HH Maha Vishnu Goswami Maharaj and especially HH Bhakti Charu
Swami who cancelled his shooting schedule to spend time with his disciple,
thank you Maharajas for your greatness. You have given us faith and hope
and set an example to follow. May we someday some life attain this level
of magnanimity. Thank you from the depths of our souls. From the experience of Savitri Priya devi, we learnt courage,
faith, determination, hope and glory: the discovery that we can be a very
strong supportive network of a caring, dependable, co-operative and loving
family shone forth with strength and beauty - giving hope and faith. Savitri Priya's sacred body
was cremated on 22nd August, Tuesday, at the Hendon Crematorium, London. I offer my humble pranams to
Savitri Priya devi and to all the Vaisnavas who were there for her at her
time of need: Your humble servant, © CHAKRA 29-Nov-2003 Go to the Other News Page |
