The
NFL Dear
Prabhus: I
don't think there's any question about whether or not it's spiritual to
watch NFL football; rather, the question is what team you root for. Obviously,
devotees want the Rams (St. Louis) to kill the Ravens (Baltimore).
And,
I don't see what's wrong with rooting for the Saints (New Orleans) or the
Colts (Indianapolis). Conversely,
rooting for the Titans (Tennessee), or those who overthrew the demigods,
would be Maya. It
also doesn't seem right to root for the Jets (NY) or the Steelers
(Pittsburgh), since that's ugra-karma, but rooting for the Cowboys
(Dallas) seems to be appropriate. You
have to watch out for the teams with animal names--the Bears, Lions,
Panthers, Jaguars, Falcons, Broncos, Dolphins, and Eagles -- rooting for
them could put you into animal consciousness. I left out the Bengals
because I think it's all right to root for them since Prabhupada and Lord
Chaitanya are Bengals. I
have a couple of friends named Jayanta, so I think I'll root for the
Giants (NY) today. Haribol,
see you at the Sunday Feast. Ram
