CHAKRA
Reporter to Leave Mayapur Soon CHAKRA
(Mayapur, India) - February 14, 2001: The last three days of the GBC
meetings won't be covered on CHAKRA because I've made a decision to go to
Jagannath Puri with Svavasa and Ramabhadra Prabhus. The GBC meetings will
conclude on February 19, 2001. The
conclusion of the meetings, the final votes of the GBC, can't usually be
reported on CHAKRA until they are released by the Executive Committee
Members, and that doesn't happen until the resolutions are reviewed by a
lawyer appointed by the GBC Body. In past years this has often been about
a month after the meetings conclude. In
other words, past years' experience tells us that we don't usually know
the final outcome of the GBC meetings until the minutes are officially
published, about a month after the GBC meetings end. Votes are taken by
ballot and tabulated by the GBC Secretariat, so even GBC members and
Deputies don't know the final outcome immediately. For
that reason I've thought to take advantage of the fact that Ramabhadra and
Svavasa are going to Puri. I've decided to join their group. In past years
I have done this also, and reported our pilgrimage on CHAKRA. This
year, however, I will not only be spending 10 days in Puri (during which I
hope to finish writing a novel I've been working - see http://timegods.com),
but afterwards I'll be flying to Kathmandu, and then to Jomsom, Nepal, on
the bank of the Kali-Gandaki River in the Himalaya Mountains. This is
where the Salagram Silas can be found along the bank of the river (see http://chantandbehappy.com/vswami/giriraja.htm
). From here I'll be hiking up to Muktinath, a famous place of pilgrimage. I'll
be reporting all of this on CHAKRA with spectacular photos. Join
with me as I explore Jagannath Puri and the Himalayas in Nepal here on
CHAKRA. © CHAKRA 14 February 2001 Go to the GBC Page |
