Animal Rights 2001 Conference

Greetings,

For anyone interested in attending the Animal Rights 2001 conference, please note that the registration fee goes up from the current $140 to $160 on May 15, just two weeks from now. Remember also to reserve your hotel room by May 31. With 500 registrations on board, we are well on our way to a sell-out.

You can register with a credit card by phone (1-888-Farm-USA) or on- line (at http://www.animalrights2001.org/registration.html). You can also mail a completed registration form from the web site with a check (to AR2001, 10101 Ashburton Lane, Bethesda, MD 20817). For additional details, send an e-mail to register@animalrights2001.org.

Registration fee includes admission to all programs and exhibits and free morning and evening snacks. (If you're not sure whether you can make it, registering now provides cheap insurance, because you can cancel for a $25 fee until June 25, when registration fee will be $160, or $20 higher.) The very reasonable lodging and meal costs are detailed at http://www.animalrights2001.org/

Anyone interested in having an exhibit table at the conference is encouraged to read about exhibiting on our Facilities page at http://www.animalrights2001.org/facilities.html. Any questions about exhibiting can be sent to exhibits@animalrights2001.org

The five-day program features 130 presenters, representing every faction of our movement! There are five plenary sessions, 75 workshops, 50 campaign reports, and 12 'rap' sessions. Other functions include exhibits, videos, group workouts, newcomer orientation, affinity meetings, employment clearinghouse, receptions, US Animal Rights Hall of Fame, and Lobby Day.

Special features include mapping strategy for the next century, exhibit of the SHARK "Monster Truck," premieres of four videos, including eyewitness account of the Buckeye Egg Farm disaster, a workshop on communicating with animals, a return engagement of the "Animal Lovers Project Dance Performance, six speakers from abroad, and ample networking time.

Key presenters include Carol Adams, the Baustons, Theo Capaldo, Robert Cohen, Joyce D'Silva (UK), Karen Davis, Patricia Forkan, Bruce Friedrich, Mark Glover (UK), Holly Hazard, Alex Hershaft, Steve Hindi, Elliot Katz, Lisa Lange, Howard Lyman, Erik Marcus, Shirley McGreal, Wayne Pacelle, Alex Pacheco, Tom Regan, Craig Rosebraugh, Ken Shapiro, Kim Stallwood, Michelle Thew (UK), Paul Watson, Zoe Weil, and Steven Wise.

The sponsors are FARM, Farm Sanctuary, Humane Society of the US, In Defense of Animals, New England Anti-Vivisection Society, and PETA.
