Prabhu "Hanging In There"
By
Vipramukhya Swami
CHAKRA (Bhaktivedanta Manor, England) - July

Prabhu, a senior disciple of Srila Prabhupada who has been suffering from
advanced stomach cancer, is still trying to overcome his disease “on all
fronts.”
He
is presently in Brazil under the care of a famous, natural “healer,” having
given up hope with Western doctors.
“I
consulted with a top stomach cancer specialist in the U.K, and as Vipramukhya
Maharaja says, the truth is that the disease has spread to other parts of the
body,” he says.
Doctors
have told him he has only a 25% chance of not having the cancer return even
after drastic surgery, including removal of the stomach and lymph nodes. “I
have met many people who had partial or full stomach removal, and in all honesty
the cancer did appear again in the stomach or other parts of the body. It is a
vicious disease and plays by no rules!”

Prabhu says he was “due to be dead a month or so ago,” and yet he is still
doing alright, although he is unsure of the future.
“It’s
a big struggle for me and I am trying as best I can to do what is right for my
service to Srila Prabhupada,” he says.
He
says would even try surgery and radiation treatment if he thought it would work.
“The
healer here in Brazil has given me encouragement, and he says the progress is
positive so far. It’s a time waiting game and lots of prayers at the Lotus
Feet of Sri Sri Gour Nitai, to do whatever They want with this useless bag of
bones if they have any further plan here at present for me. Otherwise the great
waves of time wait for no one. So I need to get ready for all possibilities.”
Tribhuvannatha
Prabhu says he is praying for the blessings of the devotees around the world. He
still is able to move around. He even attends the Sunday program at the temple
in Brasilia, and continues to worship his Gaura-Nitai deities.
