Who
is Perfect?
By
Jagannidhi das
I would like to comment on Niscala devi dasi's article "Can the Guru Make Mistakes?"
Prabhupada said once, "This same man, he's guru, so long he gives the real knowledge of Krishna. And the same man, he's ordinary man, as soon as he cannot give." So actually Srila Prabhupada is the most perfect, because he gave real knowledge.
It is because of our imperfections we actually do not know what perfection is. Even the so called mistakes and shortcomings of Srila Prabhupada are perfect in the ultimate sense, inasmuch as he serves the Perfect and therefore himself is perfect.
Our conception of perfection is imperfect. It is stereotyped according to our particular relativistic view of reality. In this world we tend to judge by symptoms without really catching the intrinsic nature of something.
To some it might seem that Prabhupada made mistakes. Some think that he is perfect in the sense of a material superman. According to my understanding, both ideas are wrong. It is not possible to understand a personality like Srila Prabhupada on the mental platform, neither as a liberal nor as a fanatic.
Even if Prabhupada's senses were imperfect, they are perfect. We just have to know what perfect means. It is a question of humility.
Your servant,
Jagannidhi das
