Detroit's Devasadhan
Mandir to Celebrate
Its 25th Anniversary

by Ambarisa dasa &
Lekhasravanti dasi

It’s been 25 years since Srila Prabhupada requested us to purchase the Fisher Mansion in Detroit to serve as his Hare Krishna Temple. Srila Prabhupada personally named it Devasadhan Mandir, meaning "the Abode of the Demigods." On Saturday, October 20, 2001, we invite all devotees who have served here in Detroit to please COME HOME and help us celebrate Devasadhan Mandir's 25th Anniversary.

This invitation includes all devotees and their families who have served Srila Prabhupada's movement in Detroit since the first Temple opened in 1969. If you have rendered service to our most merciful deities, Sri Sri Radha Kunjabihari, consider yourself invited. If you were a child raised in the Detroit Temple community, please COME HOME for this day of association with hundreds of others who have also served the Lord here.

Through your help, Devasadhan Mandir has served as a pillar of Srila Prabhupada's spiritual society in North America over the past quarter century. First and foremost, it has produced so many wonderful devotees who have helped spread Krishna Consciousness throughout the world. Second, Devasadhan Mandir has been privileged to serve society through a unique Krishna Conscious cultural presentation, which was Srila Prabhupada's vision for this center. Third, perhaps more so than any other center, Devasadhan Mandir has consistently produced positive media coverage, to help the broad public understand the great value of the Hare Krishna Movement.

Our acceptance by the public has established us as a cultural icon in Detroit, where classes of students and individuals come to tour the mansion, dine at Govinda's, and have their wedding, reception, or meeting. A few weeks ago we were featured in the Detroit Free Press as one of the area's "five hippest historic homes." So please be hip and COME HOME. You helped make Devasadhan Mandir what it is and all of the Detroit devotees request your presence at our 25th Reunion, Saturday, October 20, beginning with the 12 o'clock noon arati and kirtan and lasting throughout the evening.

Please spread the word to any Detroit devotees you have contact with, so we can all be together again under the shelter of the Lotus Feet of Sri Sri Radha Kunjabihari!

All accomodations, prasadam and airport pick-up will be provided for you by the Temple.

Thank you.
