ISKCON’s 15th Annual Vraja Mandala Parikrama, Part 8

Places visited today: The bhajan kutir of Prabhodananda Sarasvati. He wrote many poems in praise of Vraj and he was the spiritual master of Gopala Bhatta Goswami.

Pichal Pahari. Here, in the side of the hill is a long, smooth, rock slide that Krsna and the cowherd boys would slide down on.

Vyomasura Gupha. Vyomasura put the cowherd boys in this gupha (cave) after he stole them. Krsna fought with the demon here. During the fight, Krsna fell from the sky and landed on His hands and feet. Imbedded in the rock, on top of the hill above the cave, are Krsna's footprints and handprints. Nearby a rock shows imprints of marigold flowers that fell off Krsna during the fight and another shows imprints of His Kaustabha necklace.

Balarama's footprint. The battle between Krsna and Vyomasaura was so intense that the earth began to shake. To steady the wobbling earth, Balarama pressed His foot into the rock. His footprint is imbedded in this rock.

Bhojanasthali. This is where Krsna would take lunch with the cowherd boys. There are imprints of the bowls and plates that have been used by Krsna.

Day 16. Kamyavan to Varsana, the capital city of King Vrishabhanu, the father of Radharani. This is where Srimati Radharani grew up and had many pastimes with Krsna.

Kadamba Kahandi. There is a kund here with a kadamba tree and tamala tree intertwined, which represents Krsna and Radha.

Lalita Gram. Lalita Sakhi grew up here. She is one of the eight main gopis. It is Lalita's duty to pacify Srimati Radharani when she is feeling separation from Krsna.

Sankari Khor ("narrow street"). This is a very narrow path which Krsna and His friends blocked, preventing Srimati Radharani and Her friends from proceeding with their pots of yoghurt and milk. Krsna demanded that they pay a tax in order to get by. The gopis refused and started to push their way along the path. Upon seeing this, Krsna knocked the pot of yoghurt from Srimati Radharani's head and the cowherd boys feasted on the yoghurt. We can see the marks of those broken pots in the stones.

Mor Kuti. Here there was a dancing contest between Krsna and a peacock. Srimati Radharani judged their abilities. A blind saint once received a transcendental vision of this pastime and produced a painting that can be seen in the small temple at the altar here.
