All Glories to Srimad Bhakta George!
by Sadhusanga das

George Harrison (and the Beatles) were always my "idols" when I was young. I was a musician at a very young age too, so it was natural to look up to someone like George Harrison as a "role model."

I received my first introduction to Krsna Conciseness in 1974 when I met two devotees in college at St.Louis, Bhima and Caturatma prabhus. They had a book with them that really attracted me: Krsna, The Supreme Personality of Godhead. I tried to convince Bhima prabhu to sell me the book on the spot but he said, "No, this is my personal copy. Come by the Temple and I’ll get a deluxe edition for you."

So I picked up the original two-volume hardbound edition of Krsna, The Supreme Personality of Godhead (which I still have!). When I saw George Harrison’s introduction I immediately thought: "If George is into this stuff, it must be right! Let’s check out this Hare Krishna thing..." So George, you’re the actual one who made me a devotee! All glories to you!

When I read updated reports that Bhakta George was with devotees at the time of his departure, and that his ashes are to be scattered in the Holy Yamuna... well needless to say, I was in ecstasy! Such a glorious death for such a glorious personality! Indeed, I am feeling a devotional "shot in the arm" by hearing of the glorious passing of Bhakta George.

I can only hope to follow in the footsteps of such personalities like George Harrison. Hopefully, if I chant everyday as Srila Prabhupada ordered, maybe I too can be graced with the presence of devotees by my side at the time of my death.

Thank you George!

Your servant, in the service of Srila Prabhupada,
Sadhusanga das
