Nigama Dasa - Another Child of Krishna Died 9-2-99 

Nigama was born on April 27th 1976 in Slovenia, (former Yugoslavia) to a Muslim family. He met the devotees at age 14 and at age 16 moved into the temple.

He went on many preaching missions and at 17 left Slovenia to travel with Padayatra for two years. At age 21 he came to the United States where he ended up in the Alachua community where he was befriended by the family of gurukulis in the area.

Nigama was a quiet, funny, and caring person who always was trying to help his friends in need and he was especially fond of singing bhajans.

On Thursday, September 2nd 1999, Nigama hung himself in the back of the house he and his friend shared. He was 23 years old.

While he may have had many reasons, in his heart he never felt accepted, loved, or supported by the devotee community at large, say his friends.

Let us become more aware and sensitive to our youth and reach out to them in sincerity and support. Open our hearts with love so that they feel strength in overcoming the adversities and pain in their lives. In humble respects and sorrow, Children of Krishna is aiding his friends with the costs of trauma counseling. Let us all do what we can to assist our youth.
