BBT Settlement:
We Lost
from Nityananda Ram Das
Take away the political spin woven into the "Devotees settle their differences" press release and it looks to me like Hansadutta Dasa, Veda Guhya Dasa, Bhagavan
Dasa, and Dasa Dasanudasa Dasa Devi got everything they originally set out to achieve. The
title indicates that "Devotees settle their differences" but without looking too
deeply I can see that the title should have been "We Severely LostThey Easily
Won." Oh yeah, and to rub it in, we get to pay their expenses too, but then losers
usually have to.
I'd like to make a straightforward commentary on the history and competence of ISKCON's
legal advocate team, but I'd alienate myself too much, so it's not worth it. However, just
to keep my perspective on our in-house legal experts, I keep a copy of their greatest
moment, their finest hour, in my desk drawer for quick reference. It's a transcript of
ISKCON's argument and the court commentary when our legal eagles achieved every lawyer's
dream, and went in front of the Supreme Court of the United States. You should read it if
you have any doubts about our legal preparation skills, abilities, and the advice they may
have for us. I have to warn you though, its very depressing reading and it has an outcome
not unlike "Devotees settle their differences."
