It really hurts me to hear so many people referring to issues and problems within the International Society of Krishna Consciousness, as being ISKCON's fault! Who is this elusive ISKCON who is the cause of so many problems?
Certain persons within any given society create problems and issues. By putting blame on ISKCON, instead of properly placing the issue on who is responsible, invariably puts blame on all members of the society, a very large and vast, global society. It also creates a bad image for (the) ISKCON, and leaves one to question its basis. To loosely throw the acronym around, especially at others, is not only neglectful, but also cowardly.
To hear Raghunatha prabhu say, "I am not ISKCON...dont mix me up with ISKCON" in response to Nirmal prabhu, is very disheartening! We are all a part of (the) ISKCON, because we choose to be. We all have a connection, in whatever shape or form, we are connected with ISKCON, and it is a part of who we are, and who we aspire to be!
May I remind one and all of (the) ISKCONs essence: It was founded by an enlightened Bodhisattva, His Divine Grace Abhay Charan Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who wanted the liberation of every single living entity on the face of this planet, not merely those who are willing and able to join! We are in the disciplic succession of none other than Sri Krsna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who tells us Harer Nama, Harer Nama, Harer Namaiva Kevalaum, Kalau Nasty Eva, Nasty Eva Nasty Eva, Gatir Anyatha! No Other means of deliverance. Not all the hard and fast rules that we in this society have imposed, not the arguing, nor debating, not the quibbling, nor the speculating will save our souls. Merely the chanting of the Holy names of God, all the millions of them! Certainly, no one can deny this!
Therefore there is a simple solution, along with three simple guidelines for one and all....
Keep your mind and heart focused on the Lord, and constantly sing His Names and Praises
- Mind your own spiritual path. Others lives are not yours to judge. That is between them and God.
- Dont enforce concocted rules on others. There are no hard and fast rules. If you want rules in life, then live by them and be a living example.
- Treat and regard others as you do yourself. There is no difference between anyone; female/male, human/animal, martians/earthlings. In God's eyes, we are all His Prakrti (female energy)!
I have spoken my peace.... and now pray that one and all will realize these simple truths, and make the much-needed changes, for the benefit of one and all.
