Mundane links on CHAKRA?
By Devarsi Muni dasa

CHAKRA (Crescent City, CA USA):

Dear Chakra,

Please accept my humble obeisances, All Glories to Srila Prabhupada!

I enjoy your site, and read often. I especially am thankful for your coverage of the annual Mayapur meetings. However, today I noticed something that I have never seen on CHAKRA previously--outside advertisements. Just beneath the index of site categories on the far left column sits a small box, which says "Enter here, Free chat." The link goes to http://www.hitbox.com, a web service for web masters who like to keep track of who is visiting their site. Unfortunately, this site also sells quite a bit of advertising space on their home page. When I followed the link, I was bombarded with ads for a psychic service, dating services, and online gambling! This is hardly the type of information that I expected to find when following a link on the Chakra home page. If Chakra is under financial need, perhaps a plea could be made to your readers for an occasional donation. I myself would be glad to send some small amount, and I am sure that others would feel the same if it would keep such mundane links off of your site. I hope that you decide to remove the link ASAP, and preserve the dignity of your site.

Editor’s Note

Dear Devarsi Muni dasa,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

The link you described was from the “Hitbox” that one of our CHAKRA web-servants decided to put to increase the number of people visiting CHAKRA from outside sources. As a result of Hitbox, many people were visiting CHAKRA from other websites.

However, as you can see, we have removed the Hitbox from our home page now.

Yours in Prabhupada’s service,
The CHAKRA team
