| Balancing Prabhupada's
Samadhi in Mayapur by Sanandananda Manjari dasi Dear Prabhus, Two years ago I visited Mayapur the first time. I had not lived in a temple for 17 years. I lived in Boulder, Colorado and visited the Denver temple for festivals and occasional Sunday feasts. Mayapur, as well as Vrindavan, are certainly the spiritual world here on this blessed earth. While there I noticed that the birds weren't just chirping, but singing melodies and the sky seemed to sparkle like diamonds. Jayapataka Swami personally served Prabhupada's devotees on Gour Purnima. Sweet Bengali women were reaching for my feet, and through the corner of my eyes I had a vision of Prabhupada, laughing joyfully as he descended the stairs of the long building. When I turned to look again, the vision was gone. Tears filled my eyes as I knew that Prabhupada was always with us and behind every plan and action that was going on in Mayapur. I was so happy that Prabhupada's dream for Sri Mayapur Dhama was becoming a reality in spite of all the difficulties experienced in the ISKCON over the years. Prabhupada has sooo many dedicated devotees all over the world. It brings me great joy! One thing I noticed while I was in Mayapur which I thought needed correcting was that there were no female devotees in the brass statues or the ceramic tiles surrounding Srila Prabhupada's Samadhi. I am sure that this was an unconscious mistake since Prabhupada had approximately 1/3 female devotees. Two years later, I visited Mayapur again. This time I decided to try to do something about it. I spoke with Abhirama in Boulder and over the email and he said that if I were "hell bent" on making the change that he would help to facilite the project. He said that he was well aware that the project needed to be done. Someone has to do it. If Radha and Krishna, as well as Lord Caitanya and Srila Prabhupada will allow me, I will try. I am wondering who out there is also interested in helping. I am not just looking for female devotees. I am asking everyone to help. I am starting by requesting help in getting cost estimates. After I get some idea of how I might get started, I will set up a fund and solicit donations. If all of you will "chip in", it may only cost us a few dollars each. I will be very pleased if you would like to send me an email regarding this effort. In the meantime, I am waiting to hear from Abhirama regarding a liason in Mayapur.
