Welcome to
oldchakra.com. Basically, all of
the articles from the old chakra.org
website have been published on this site
with a few exceptions, mostly the articles that said Srila Prabhupada
or the Vedic scriptures are mistaken,
although I have kept the answers to
these articles.
Since the closing of the old
chakra.org, I have continued to publish
ISKCON news on www.dipika.org.
I will not be posting any new articles
on
oldchakra.com, and I hope you can
find what you need in the menu on the
right. If you cannot, write to me at webmaster@oldchakra.com,
and I will try to help.Below this note
are a few of the articles from the last
homepage of chakra.org.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

The following article appeared in
issue number 15 of Sri Krishna
Kathamrita Bindu, the free
fortnightly email magazine from ISKCON
Gopal Jiu Publications.
Question: How can we have
unalloyed devotion to our guru and also
see the godbrother of our spiritual
master as our spiritual master?
Gour Govinda Swami: We will offer
the same respect to him as we pay to our
spiritual master. But as Hanuman says,
"Rama has occupied my heart":
sri-nathe janaki-nathe
cabhedah paramatmanih
tathapi mama sarvasvam

Siksa
or Diksa Sampradaya?

Dear devotees,
Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Can we call our sampradaya a siksa
sampradaya? My understanding is as
follows.
Any sampradaya can be called simply
sampradaya. There is no need to call
ours exclusively a siksa sampradaya, as
in certain quarters devotees are calling
it.
The siksa sampradaya proponents just
took the parampara list given in Bhagavad-gita
as It Is and started explaining that
ours is a siksa line, siksa parampara,
etc.

Education
and the Vedic Woman

Mother Yasoda
with Lord Krsna:
Was she uneducated?

Judging from the angry, unprintable
letters I have been receiving, it seems
there is a misunderstanding about the
education of women in Vedic times. Srila
Prabhupada, people say, is teaching a
conception of the Vedic society where
women remain ignorant. It makes me
wonder how many people actually read
Srila Prabhupada’s books. It is true
that Vedic women did not get degrees in
business administration or sociology,
but still, they were more educated than
the most learned scholars in
universities today.
What about Queen Kunti? Was she
uneducated? People are still studying
and poring over her words 5,000 years
after they were spoken. And it is all in
Srila Prabhupada’s books.
Offenses:
Keep Them
off the Home Page
By Ekendra Das
Dear Prabhus and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
First of all thank you for
maintaining the Chakra website, which
gives so many devotees a chance to
associate and express their perceptions
and feelings on so many issues that we
all must face.
My humble request is that perhaps
there could be some adjustment in
editorial policy. I've noticed over the
years that, for me, CHAKRA can be, at
best, the source of a lot of spiritual
inspiration, or at its worst it can be
quite discouraging. I don't think that
it's broadly beneficial to individual
devotees or for the greater society
(which is just made up of a lot of
individual devotees J ) to broadcast
on the front page some of the
conversation threads, especially when
the conversation degenerates into
bickering and/or criticism especially
(however subtle it may be) of our
Founder Acarya. This is a very dangerous
situation, which requires an utmost
sense of responsibility and alert
stewardship.

Dear Ekendra Prabhu,
Please accept my most humble
obeisances. All glories to Srila
Prabhupada! All glories to your
Gurudeva!
Thanks for your letter. I would like
to answer some of the points:
Chakra is not an open forum and no
longer publishes any articles stating or
suggesting that Srila Prabhupada or the
Vedic Scriptures are mistaken.

Looking at the need for a place for
devotees to meet for marriage and other
purposes, my husband and I have just
started building up a site. It is in the
very early phases, but still can prove a
place for devotees to meet right away.
