Puripada's Audacity
A letter from Gaura dasa
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
I'm not surprised at the audacity of "Srila Puripada" when he states in his letter to you that although he is "not
under the authority of the so-called GBC" he will do "what is proper in
spreading Srila Prabhupada's movement." He self-righteously denounces our gurus and
claims to not having been a child molester, drug addict, murderer or cheater like a few of
our former initiating gurus, yet is not free from the cheating propensity himself. He
advises us to put our "name calling aside and get down to the ocean of Krishna seva
before us," but his denouncement of the GBC appears to be the same type of
name-calling.
It seems that the virulent DADS (Dreaded Acarya Disease Syndrome) is still prevalent.
"Srila Puripada" should be informed that it is ISKCON law not to use these
honorific titles in public since it creates a great deal of dissension amongst the
devotees. Of course since he is transcendental to even Srila Prabhupada's GBC, this advice
will probably fall on deaf ears.

The Missing Tapes

The persistence of this attempt to convince devotees that Srila Prabhupada was poisoned is
a great sadness to me, and at the same time I find it an amazing phenomenon.
I just wanted to mention something about the missing tapes from London in July 1977. I had
the good fortune to be invited into a private darshan with Ganesyama (now Bhaktitirtha
Swami), as I had just been his assistant on the library party in Eastern Europe, and he
was called in to give his report. There were 5 of us in the room with Srila Prabhupada:
Bhakti Tirtha Swami, Dvarakesh (later Bhakti-dayal Swami, now deceased),
Upendra, Tamal
Krishna Goswami, and I.
Prabhupada was moved to tears by Bhaki Tirtha's report, and made some short comments,
which he specifically told Tamal Krishna Goswami to note down. I remember clearly that
there was no tape recorder in sight, and I had the impression that the "standard
mode" of recording had become simply noting down by Tamal Krishna Goswami. At the
time it seemed the appropriate mode, as Prabhupada was speaking very little.
So this would explain why no tapes from that period.

Dear Sirs,
My career as an author is well know to many in ISKCON. Why not ask your sponsor Mukunda
Maharaja about my work DARK HORSE / THE PRIVATE LIFE OF GEORGE HARRISON?
As for my work as a spiritual teacher I am not at all under the authority of your
so-called GBC and will do whatever I and the board of SRI feel is proper to assist in
spreading Srila Prabhupada's movement. At least we are not child molesters, drug addicts,
murderers and cheats like so many of your imposter gurus.
I honestly hope we can put all this name calling aside and get down to the ocean of
Krishna Seva before us.

No "Poison" on the Tapes

Dear Maharajas and Prabhus,
Please accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
I am really glad the poison controversy is dying its natural death. From the very
beginning, there were only two possibilities by which it could lead to any other
direction.
1. If Srila Prabhupada directly named or indicated who the poison giver was.
2. If the poison giver himself came forward and confessed he did it.
Srila Prabhupada eliminated the first possibility by not naming anyone. Surely Srila
Prabhupada wasn't going to leave Lord Caitanya's sankirtana movement in the hands of a
poison giver. If he suspected anyone, he would have surely told us. He would have revealed
it to someone. Even though it is a fact he was fairly disturbed over the idea that he had
the symptom of someone poisoned, we have to accept this statement very seriously: "I
look like I am poisoned, not that I am poisoned."
I did hear the tape containing some of the most significant Hindi statements he made. When
the kaviraj asked who said he was poisoned, he said, "Yei sab friend," meaning
"Oh, some friend [said it]."
Some people have foolishly interpreted this to say, "Oh, these friends have poisoned
me." But I heard the Hindi conversation clearly. The question was, How did he know he
was poisoned? And the answer was, "Some friend told me."
Gargamuni:
No Poison Book
"Deliberately Misrepresented" by Pada
Gargamuni Dasa denies telling PADA that he believed Srila
Prabhupada was poisoned. According to Gargamuni, PADA's story is a deliberate
misrepresentation.
PADA wrote: "Once Gargamuni prabhu told me that he knew that Srila Prabhupada
had been poisoned and he was going to 'write a book' about it. However, Gargamuni said
that he would have to keep the book in a bank's safe/deposit box, with instructions that
it only to be opened and printed after his death. Why? Otherwise, Gargamuni said, if he
would publish this information now, they (the killers of Srila Prabhupada?) would kill
him. We humbly beg Gargamuni to come forward with his book now, we are in urgent need of
his testimony."
CHAKRA wrote to Gargamuni's brother, Brahmananda Dasa, to ask if he would check with
Gargamuni about this statement.
Brahmananda writes back:
"This is not true. Gargamuni says he never said such things, and it seems he is being
deliberately misrepresented.
"There are two aspects to the poisoning matter:
"a. the tainted medicine, which Srila Prabhupad and the Calcutta kaviraja said was
"poison" and which was probably administered by the devotees out of a
combination of ignorance, desperation, foolishness, and sentiment, and the effects of
which were undoubtedly deleterious but perhaps not lethal.
"b. a calculated conspiracy to murder Srila Prabhupada with a lethal poison.
"The first is a fact and should be well-known; the second is an allegation of which I
know nothing."
No "Poison Ishvara"
An Announcement by Bir Krishna Goswami
and Ravindra Svarupa Dasa
Philadelphia, 17 January, 1998 —Bir Krishna Maharaja and I
have been able to decipher another of the mysterious "poison whispers." This is
the baffling "whisper" heard as "poison ishvaya rasa" or " poison
ishvara rasa," which was the third of the purportedly incriminating whispers to be
found on the tape of November 10, 1977.
The so-called "‘poison ishvaya rasa’ whisper" is actually part of a
conversation in Bengali between a Bengali speaker and Krsna dasa Babaji. The words in
question turn out to be a statement entirely in Bengali. What people have heard as
"poison ishvara rasa"--or something like that-- is a Bengali speaker saying to
Krsna dasa Babaji the clear phrase "kayek din pare asha . . . ." "Kayek din
pare" means "after a few days," and the word "asha" is most
likely the first part of the standard expression "asha kari", "I
hope." However the sentence may end, "kayek din pare" is not
"poison."
We played the selection to three intelligent native Bengali speakers, independently of
each other. All of them heard close to the same thing.
TKG Never Said That
A Letter from Shyamasundar Das
Dear Vipramukhya Maharaj,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All Glories to His Divine Grace Srila
Prabhupad!
My dear Godbrother Mukunda Goswami has recently passed on to me a statement made by Nara Narayana Prabhu purporting to be a conversation between Tamal Krishna Goswami and myself in 1970 in the Colaba house of Kartikeya Mahadevia, in which TKG allegedly accuses Prabhupad of being "old and senile." Let me state categorically that this conversation never took place! I cannot even imagine such a scenario. If you could only have seen the look of utter adoration and respect in Tamal Krishna's eyes whenever he gazed upon his Spiritual Master, at that or any other time during their long association, you would understand that this thought could not even be conceived by one of His most loyal and surrendered Devotees. I will not give this mindless vituperative accusation any substance by further elaboration.

Poison: The Oracle at Kakkatpur Answers

I had not visited him for a long time. As I walked in, he said,
"You have come after a very long time. I hope you haven’t come to ask me any
questions about the poisoning."
After greeting him, I said, "Why do you ask me that?"
He replied, "There have already been a lot of devotees who have come to see me
regarding this "poison problem." About eight devotees were ‘for’ the
poison-theory, twelve neutral, who wanted to know what was happening, and twelve devotees
were ‘anti.' All of them were answered by the readings that there was ‘no sign
of truth’ in the allegation.
Four pro-poisonists were informed that it was dangerous for their devotional life to
continue with what they were propagating. All readings stopped after the phrase,
"satya nahi lakshana" – "there is no truth in this allegation."
These four groups had other questions, too, none of which were answered and the reading
not only stopped for the questioner, it just stopped for the whole day.

No Poison on the Tapes
An Analysis by Harikesa Swami
After hearing that the whispers said what everyone thinks they
said, and especially the latest—which was not a whisper but a spoken statement by
Tamal Krsna Maharaja ("Put poison in different containers" or something like
that)— Brahma Muhurta dasa and I decided that we were going to do our own
investigation into what the tapes actually said.
Of course, no one has yet explained why Prabhupada said he was being poisoned. I am
still interested in what this actually meant. This remains the most important piece of
evidence in the whole affair. Indeed, it may be the only piece of evidence there is.
As far as the original whisper is concerned, the one that supposedly said,
"Let's not poison him and go," we have listened to that one the most. We cannot
hear the word "poison," nor the words "him and go." Definitely there
is no mention of poison, as was originally ascertained. Further, it is clear that this
statement is being whispered to Prabhupada himself (!), who is acknowledging what is told
to him with two "uh-huhs" or whatever it is he said.
Isa Withholds Judgement on Poison
Awaits Results of Independent Investigations
According to Isa and Ranjit Prabhus, the copies of the "poison
tapes" in Isa Prabhu's possession appear to be identical to those at the
Bhaktivedanta Archives. The only difference seems to be that the Archives has an
additional version in which some of the hisses and other noise have been cleaned up. All
clearly spoken words and whispers are identical on both versions.
Anyone who wants a copy of these tapes can order them from the Bhaktivedanta Archives. Isa Prabhu reports that he will withhold further judgment regarding this issue until the reports from both independent investigations (IVC and Balavanta prabhu) have been released. (Complete Story)
Makaradhvaja: Filling in the
Details
(CHAKRA) - A letter on VNN entitled "A Known Criminal Supplied 'Makaradhvaja'"
accuses the GBC of negligence for authorizing the purchase of a medicine known as
makaradhvaja for Srila Prabhupada from a known criminal.
Isa Das Accusing Srila Prabhupada -- Summary: Isa das has recently sent out e-mail to advertise his tapes of Srila
Prabhupada's conversations. These tapes, he claims, reveal what the Folio transcriptions
do not: that Srila Prabhupada's own servants plotted to kill him, thinking him old and of
unsound mind. But Isa, in his advertising zeal, has unknowingly revealed that it is not
the servants but Isa himself who thinks Srila Prabhupada was old and senile.
Nara Narayana dasa May Be Confusing the
Issues
Setting the Record Straight
I don't know how Nara Narayan prabhu could have possibly misunderstood any conversation I
ever had with him to relate such a incredible misrepresentation as he presented in his
message of 12/12. I never related to him that I have any primary or secondary knowledge of
any conspiracy to poison Srila Prabhupada. Nor do I know of any person(s) who may have
such knowledge. Where he got this idea, I do not know. Certainly if I had such knowledge I
would come forward and discuss it with the right individuals who I believe could get
something resolved; but the fact is I just have nothing to contribute.
Srila Prabhupada's Horoscope.
Summary: Srila Prabhupada's horoscope indicates poisononing was not possible. Srila
Prabhupada had an interesting 8th house of death. The 8th house rules one's life force,
the ability for the soul to stay in the body. Srila Prabhupada has three planets in this
house, namely Ketu, Sun and Jupiter.
GBC Investigator Kills Poison Story -- Summary: USA (CHAKRA) -The GBC special investigator, Balavanta dasa, has
denied any GBC confirmation of VNN's report of "the most incriminating evidence"
that Srila Prabhupada was poisoned.
