May 19, 1999: Anuttama dasa has issued a statement in which he calls a recent post on VNN bizarre.

Anuttama says there is a child protection office in place (CPO) that assists ISKCON kids that need help. "The CPO has ceiling of $2,000 available for counseling and other needs." He says that hopefully, the recent money pledged will raise that ceiling.

VNN on GHQ

It seems that VNN is falsely publishing some statement that the NA GBC has censured members of the GHQ conference. The NA GBC has not censured anyone. Our only statement was the one you already published that abhorred some of the comments on the conference that were derogatory towards women. No one was specifically pointed out. There are many innocent members of that conference who have no fault. So please clear this up. I am not able to sign onto the web right now as I am travelling, so if you could check out VNN to see what nonsense they published and deal with it, I would be most grateful.

Bhakti Caru Swami Addresses Controversy Raised by VNN

It is in response to an article previously posted on VNN in which a man named Mr. Kay Maharaj complained that he had been cheated by the "Abhaya Charan" administrative office and some "Hare Krishna Devotees."

Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada.

CHAKRA (Crescent City, CA USA) - August 18, 1999: Your story on email taxes ("Curtailment of Free Speech" USA, June 13 (VNN)) is a complete hoax. Please read the following article, which appeared in the 4/21/99 London Free Press. The details of the scam exactly mirror the details you listed, with American political and legal titles replacing the European.

To emphasize my warning, there IS NO "Bill-602P"(602P is not even a valid bill number); no "Berger, Stepp and Gorman " attorneys listed in Vienna, VA; and no congressman Tony Schnell, Republican OR Democrat, House OR Senate, anywhere in the United States. You should really be more careful when posting a story. It took me less than 20 minutes to verify that this was a hoax. I must say that this does not engender my trust in the credibility of other news stories which appear on your web site.
