[Thanks for the kind words. And since you liked the photo, here is another one, this time from our temple in Queens, N.Y. The silas are worshiped as Sri Sri Radha Giridhari by Ramaraya dasa brahmacari. (Traditionally, gold-colored silas from Govardhana are worshiped as Srimati Radharani, and white silas as Lord Balarama.) The temple is in the home of Trisakti Mataji and Sunanada Prabhu. Visits and inquiries are welcome.

Amid the intensity of our daily festivals along the Baltic coast, while simultaneously looking for land as a future base for our tour, we prepared for the Woodstock festival by sending a crew to the site, 550 km to the south in Zary, one week early. Woodstock is the stuff dreams are made of — a golden opportunity to present Krsna consciousness in a gigantic way to thousands of people. Jurek Owsiak, voted the most popular man in Poland two years in a row, hosts 350,000 young people in a gala rock festival that is the biggest annual musical event in Europe.

After placing an ad on oldchakra.com and VNN, I received many letters from devotees who were glorifying the Chakra and giving me different suggestions about it. I thank all the devotees who have bought them and I would like to share some of their comments:
1. Dear Sarvabhavana Prabhu,
Thank you for sending the Chakra. The Chakra is very beautiful, and yesterday on Sunday we presented the Chakra to the congregation. I had it mounted on a velvet-covered board and displayed on an easel. There was a colored drawing of the proposed new temple (with the Chakra on the srikara) hanging beneath it. I announced to everyone that Sudarshana has come (practically on His own), and now He is eager to take his place above Sri-Sri Radha-Sarad-Bhihari. Everyone now has to fulfill His desire. Thank you for your help. I hope this finds you in good health.

Degrees: Really Useless or Simply Not for Everyone?

Sounds like we agree. I can’t think of many less useless (i.e. more useful)
ways either.

service attitude, and the like."
Again, agreed. But I’m not sure how you reached the following conclusion:

"While it is true that having a job in this world is temporary, that doesn’t make it any less useful during this temporary life. Most devotees have families to support, rent to pay, and food to buy. Unless a devotee is planning on remaining a temple devotee his whole life or unless he is independently wealthy, he needs to obtain an education or learn a trade. Or does Dr S Arnold really want to see more devotees living off social welfare or scamming tourists in urban settings?"
My apologies for not having updated Chakra these last few days. I have been on the road and have hardly had time to breathe. I promise I’ll do better. As an offering of contrition, I ask Chakra’s readers to please accept this picture of Sri Sri Radha Syamasundara at New Ramana Reti (Alachua, Florida).

India Returns to Dwaraka

Padayatra India started on Radhastami 1984 from Dwaraka. To celebrate the 500th anniversary of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, devotees walked from Dwaraka to Mayapur. After reaching Mayapur in 1986, they decided to keep on walking and returned to Dwaraka in 1988. From there the walking continued with a new circle around India. By Janmastami 2002, they will have completed the fourth circle and returned Dwaraka.
After Padayatra returned to Dwaraka for the first time, in 1988, a majestic gate 60 feet high was built to commemorate that return (see photo). Whoever arrives at Dwaraka-Dham to have Darshan of Lord Dwarakadish (see photo) goes through the gate. Meanwhile, ISKCON has also gotten its own property, located very close to the temple of the Lord (see photo).
